This Privacy Policy applies to the Vaani AAC Lite mobile and web applications developed and operated by Torchit ("we", "our", or "us"). This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard user information when you use our app across Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, and Web.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information necessary to deliver and improve our assistive communication services:
- Authentication Information: When you choose to log in with Google, we authenticate your identity via Google OAuth and Firebase Authentication. We receive your unique user identifier (UID), registered email address, Google display name, and profile photo URL.
- Profile Information: Users or caregivers may optionally provide a customized display name and phone number to personalize the profile within the app.
- Communication & Customization Data: Custom phrases, saved vocabulary boards, speech rate, pitch, volume preferences, and selected language packs are synchronized securely to Cloud Firestore to allow seamless multi-device usage.
- Diagnostics & Crash Reports: We collect non-identifiable diagnostic data, crash stack traces, and device OS specifications via Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix runtime exceptions.
- Usage Analytics: We collect anonymized interaction events (such as speech synthesis events, active language, and platform type) via Google Analytics for Firebase to improve accessibility performance.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the data collected strictly for the following purposes:
- To authenticate your identity and maintain a secure user session.
- To synchronize your personal vocabulary items and audio speech settings across all your registered devices.
- To operate, maintain, and enhance the performance of our multilingual text-to-speech (TTS) engines covering 14 Indian languages.
- To diagnose and resolve application errors and crashes.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. Google API Services User Data Policy
Vaani AAC Lite's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We request only basic profile and email scopes required for authentication. We do not transfer, sell, or disclose Google user data to third parties for advertising.
5. Data Storage, Security & Retention
Your data is stored and encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS) and encrypted at rest on Google Cloud / Firebase infrastructure located in secure facilities. We retain user information only for as long as your account remains active or as required to fulfill the purposes set out in this policy.
6. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We never sell, lease, or monetize your personal information. We only share information with reputable service providers bound by strict confidentiality and data protection obligations:
- Google Firebase: For user authentication, cloud database synchronization, application hosting, crash diagnostics, and analytics.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Because Vaani AAC Lite provides assistive speech tools for users of all ages, including children, we take child safety with utmost seriousness. We do not conduct behavioral tracking, deliver targeted ads, or sell data. All communications stored in Firestore are strictly used for assistive speech generation.
8. User Rights & Account Deletion
